Public Safety News Feeds:
Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
I know that many of you were disappointed that you could not obtain a ticket to be inside the Sports Center for President Obama’s remarks on Monday.
In recognition of all of the enthusiasm on campus for President Obama’s visit and to allow as much of the campus community as possible to come together for this historic event, we will simulcast the event at various locations across campus.
Please plan to be in place by 4:15 p.m. in order to not miss the speech, as we are not sure of the actual start time. Simulcast locations are:
- · Wilde Auditorium
- · Woods Classroom in Mortensen Library
- · KF classroom in Mortensen Library
- · Suisman Lounge in Gengras Student Union
- · United Technologies Hall, room 320
- · Dana Hall, room 201 (Mali I)
- · Regents Commons in the Shaw Center
- · Goodwin Café in Mortensen Library
Monday will be a great day, and I hope as many of you as possible will see the program from one of these locations.
Sincerely,
Walter Harrison
President

Distracted Driver.
Phone in one hand.
Ticket in the other.
Police departments & Campus Public Safety Departments across Connecticut again will be stepping up their efforts to stop distracted driving.
Connecticut State Troopers, Local Police Officers, & University & College Public Safety Officers across the state will specifically be looking for drivers talking on the phone or texting which is not allowed under current Connecticut state law. Fines are as high as $200.00 for using a cell phone or PDA while operating a vehicle.
Officials said the statistics should be enough to make drivers drop their cell phones: drivers who use cell phones or other PDAs while driving are four times more likely to be involved in a serious crash.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in 2008, 6,000 people died from crashes involving distracted drivers.
